I, Hope Michelle, am a Texas, Christian mental health therapist with a passion for providing soul care to girls and women.
I received my Bachelors of Arts in English Education from Lamar University and my Masters of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
I am licensed to practice in the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
My professional experience includes:
Providing therapy to court-mandated truancy middle and high schools students at San Antonio Fighting Back
Providing therapy to substance abuse, eating disorder, and school-age populations
Advising college students
Counseling child abuse populations
Teaching middle school and high school English in Texas, Missouri, and South Africa
Serving as a Girl’s Group Facilitator
Providing soul care through discipleship and prayer sessions at Hagee Ministries
Case Managing to improve the quality of low income women lives at the San Antonio Housing Authority
My therapy work focuses on assisting female clients in Texas with identity, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, body image, and life transition issues.
In the Black community, seeking therapy can be seen as a taboo. We are encouraged to seek medical care for our physical bodies.
However, engaging in therapy should be utilized as a rhythmic self-care practice; due to the daily stressors life brings and traumatic events that affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I offer a safe, therapeutic space for women of color to express themselves freely and receive the inner healing they desire.
